Leadership
Gary Griffis
Principal
Larry McGinley
Pastor, OPRBC
Principal Gary Griffis has a clear calling to serve God through ministry and education. He began teaching private piano lessons while still in high school and has been involved in ministry and education for most of his life.
His education includes Union County High School, Jacksonville University, FSCJ, UNF and the National University of Singapore.
Pastor Larry McGinley is a life-long resident of Jacksonville, Florida, and has been at Old Plank Road Baptist Church since 1976. In 1990, he was ordained as pastor and has led its congregation ever since.
OPRBC is focused on Jesus' command to "Go and Tell " (Matthew 28:18-19), and we strive to accomplish this through our many ministries and outreaches.
Principal Griffis' career in education spans public and private schools in Union, Bradford, Baker, and Duval Counties. He has served in leadership roles and has taught multiple subjects for elementary and secondary grades.
Principal Griffis is excited about the ministry of OPCA and the positive impact our school and church are having on the lives of students and families!
In 2004, burdened by society's' negative influence on the teaching philosopy in our public schools, Pastor McGinley was inspired to expand Old Plank's ministry by establishing a Christian school.
In 2005, Old Plank Christian Academy opened its doors.
True to Pastor McGinley's vision, OPCA continues to provide a quality, Christ-centered education that impacts students' families and our community with the love of Jesus Christ.
